ELK'S CLUB DINNER

Saturday evening was the real blow-off. The catered dinner and dance with entertainment provided by class members was one of the best and most enjoyable activities attended. The Elk's Club provided the setting and everyone had a great time. Below are the photos that I have of this affair. To see a larger photo, click on the thumbnail. After viewing, click the back arrow to return to this page.

If you have any photos (preferably group shots) that do not duplicate these, or which have members who attended but are not shown in these photos, please send them to me so I can update the page. If you can help with a caption for the photos, send it to me via e-mail. BILL

You would have thought that we all came only for the food if you judged by the size of the queue waiting before the excellent buffet was opened. Most did go through a second time and some a third. This was a seafood buffet, but other meat items were included for those who do not enjoy the main course.

Marilynn Blackmon was our moderator. She handed out several certificates, mostly gag, introduced the various members who entertained us, and provided some structure(and order) to this activity. Here she gives LeDon an award(?).

Members of our class do a lot of hugging(Yes, even the guys!). Here Marilynn corrals Raymond Phillips. He seems happy with it, and who can blame him??

Bill Myrick brought his laptop to record everyone's address onto a database spreadsheet. This data is available to anyone in the class who wishes to have it.

Dell Howry really enjoyed himself. Here he demonstrates some of his dance moves with Jackie Walker. Zuda Wright is supposed to be dancing with Jerry Smith but seems to be concentrating on Dell's footwork.

Carolyn Pearson and Jerry Smith

Doug and Sue Smith share a dance. Doug was constantly circulating to take photos, but she finally got him to put the camera down for a minute or two.

Janet (Baber) Blankenship and Zuda Wright share a moment. Both were busy circulating in order to be sure they greeted everyone.

Dell spent a lot of time on the dance floor. Here he is with Sue (Stidham) McSwain.

Holley (Robinson) Izard and Jean (Vail) Coleman.

Teresa and Charlie Mayhue

Darrell and Rhonda Briscoe with Raymond and Joyce Phillips

Richard Guinn and Sue Smith show their stuff. Janet (Baber) Blankenship dances with someone off camera.

Joe Knickmeyer entertained us with some "folk" songs from the 60s. He was part of a group in High School named the "Jolly Coachmen"(I think?). Who were the other members?

Sidney (Sudberry) Greathouse proved that you are never too old to learn something new. Here she demonstrates by giving us a solo on the drums. She had been studying for about a year(?).

Dick Wilson and LeDon McAnally

John Fred Jumper and Charlie Mayhue make a little music.

Nancy Domjanovich and Carole Jo (Holmes) Blassingame

Ben and Roz Sleigh

LeDon McAnally, Jill (Etier) Botkin, Tommy Wilson, and Holley (Robinson) Izard

Janet (Baber) Blankenship with Bill and Barbara Dillon

Class members were encouraged to talk a little about themselves and James King gave us an inspirational talk on the merits of his favorite charity, The March of Dimes, which is still working hard on 'Birth Defects' research after practically eradicating polio.

Marilynn Blackmon presents Joe Knickmeyer with an award. (?)

Ann and Mary Ellen share a laugh.

Sue, Lynn, Janet, Richard and Ann watch the entertainment.

Marilynn held the microphone for John Fred while Joe and he sang. Charlie tried to remember the words.

Another certificate, this one to Judy (Timmons) Hanson.

Glen Walker, not as adventursome on the dance floor as Dell, managed to get around to visit with all.

Zuda watches as Ann (Walker) Holman mades her way to the podium where she entertained us with her beautiful voice.

Ted and Sue (Stidham) McSwain share a moment.
